The most powerful poison is ignorance. Ignorance is the darkness into which consciousness plunges, for a person is not aware of his spiritual nature, identifying himself with the body and the ossified mind. Ignorance gives rise to four more poisons: attachment (passionate desire), aversion (anger, hatred), envy, pride. It is interesting that the first saying of Christ on the cross was: “Father! forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34). The antidote for every poison will be: love, calmness, wisdom, non-attachment, awareness of your spiritual nature.
